*****SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT!!!*****

I finally finished watching Season 1 of Big Love.

WOW WOW WOW!!! I loved this series, and can't wait for more. I love how the HBO producers have such a knack for character development.

First thing's first. I loved the core women in this show. Everyone from Barb to Wanda to Bill's mom. I know that at first I had dislike towards Nikki, but that quickly changed. Hell, who doesn't love a woman who knows how to not only carry a washer out of her house, but fix it? I wonder if she will marry me??? I loved watching Nikki and the way she worked. I also loved Barb and Margie, for what each of their characters had to offer. I could easily see why Bill fell in love with each of them. And even though some of the wording or pronounciation was off "recoMEND", I still felt like so much of it was a nod to ex-mo's. There are so many things that you could only understand *AND* appreciate if you are a former mormon.

So, to summarize, I loved each character, and the developments they made throughout the story. Polygamy would be an extremely rough lifestyle, even if modernized, I couldn't really do it.

I do wonder about Barb, and what season 2 will bring. I hated that she was disqualified from the Mother of the Year award, that scene was rather heart breaking. I wonder what will turn out with Ben? I went from thinking that he had a thing for Margie, to thinking that he was possibly gay. And I think that Rhonda is a little Nikki in the making. The Alby character absolutely gave me the creeps, is it bad if I wanted him dead and loved Wanda for doing something to him?

Readers who have watched the show (and I know there are many of you), what say ye?

I'm telling you, Nikki rocks. Its' that nasty Mormon girl look, captured perfectly with her hair and mannerisms.

Yeah, I can't figure Ben out. Right from the beginning I thought he was either going to hook up with Margie or turn out to be gay, but so far...nothing. I LOVE Rhonda - what a great character. I hope there's a lot more of her. I love that the show is really less about Bill and his stuff and more about the relationships of the women (or maybe I just feel that way because their stuff is more interesting).

I loved that conversation between Nikki and her mother about credit card debt--something about Roman predicting the end of the world three times and his prophecies being a little off lately.

Benny did have a boner while his friend was sleeping over, so maybe he'll have sexual identity issues in Season 2.

I want a second AND third wife like Margie. Only with more birth control. No Viagra needed here.

Bishop Rick- you were absolutely right on the Nikki rocks thing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her antics. She played that character so very well.

Rebecca- the women stuff was SO interesting! You to realize that the girl who plays Rhonda was in "The Ring", right? I still get freaked out when I look at her!

Randy- oh yes, I loved loved loved that conversation too! I hope Ben has sexual identity issues in season 2, I think that's something that needs to be explored.

Pete- why am I not surprised? ;-)

Hmph.

I haven't seen ANY Big Love shows - yet.

I'm holding out until Christy sees a James Bond movie :)

Sideon- You don't want to do that to yourself! Seriously, you WANT to see Big Love. It is a unique series that you will "get". It is not a mass-produced, over-hyped chain.

Okay, fine, perhaps I over-hyped it. :) Don't hold that against me!

Christy, are you saying that Bond movies are mass-produced, and over-hyped?

Don't knock 'em til you try 'em.

SML- ha! Okay, how about we compromise... mass-produced, yes. Over-hyped? Only in my opinion! ;-) (I know, I know, and I agree! Don't knock it till you try it!)

I'd love to watch Big Love, but don't really want to buy it. I don't think I have the channel that has it...

And if you watch a Bond movie, go for Sean Connery. Hubba.

Oh, I almost forgot that wonderous mural of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and John Taylor in the chapel at Juniper Creek. Damn, that was fun!

My guess is that Bill will win a power struggle with Roman and end up as the Prophet of the Juniper Creek so-called Mormons. Nikki will love it; Barb and Margene won't. Oh, and aren't the older actors on this show absolutely fabulous? Harry Dean Stanton, Bruce Dern, and Grace Zabriskie are just delightful to watch. And I'm on the Rhonda love train too. Great, great character.

Rob and I finished watching it a few weeks ago, and I agree with you about Nikki, she's fun...

A funny thing happened the other day...we rented "You, Me, and Dupree", and *Roman* was a character in that movie...it was funny to see him drop the F-bomb in this movie, after watching the Big Love series.
