Big Love

Because we're major losers who don't subscribe to HBO, I was eager to buy Big Love as soon as it came out on DVD. I've been so busy lately that I've only had the chance to watch the first two episodes (just got done with the second one). WOW! I'm loving this show so far. Early impressions-- the youngest wife is hot. I really like her. I like Barb, the oldest wife, too. I detest Nicky, the middle wife. She is everything I hate in a woman. I love all of the inner references to mormonism, I feel like it's a nod to us ex-mormons. I finally understand what all of the hype from this show is about. I can't wait to see it played out. I did learn one important lesson from the second episode: Oral is Moral. I couldn't agree more.

On that note, this is my last post for a few days. I'm sneaking on now while my husband isn't paying attention, the greedy bastard wants me all for himself tonight (I'm kidding about him being a bastard, lay off!).

I'll be back in a few days! Cheers for now! :)

I'm glad that I am not the only one in the no-HBO big loser crowd. I've not seen an episode of Big Love. Have fun on your trip. I will be awaiting your return with bated-breath. I also think that your business trip should have been to Seattle rather than that "other" side of the country.

I've only just started Big Love too. I feel like it's almost insider, but not quite. Like how the oldest wife said, "Family home evening," but put the emphasis on Home. Or how the 3 women drink tea while they plan their week. It's just small things, but things any Mo or exmo could've cleared up in 2 seconds.

But then maybe they have an ex-fundie mo, and it's just different enough.

Come back soon. I miss your guts (and other lovely attributes). I'm worried I'll forget to blog one of the days you're gone and not around to text me reminders.

FTA, I think the tea was herbal tea. I'm a non HBO lamo, but only because the wife doesn't want HBO in the house. I watched Big Love whenever I went on a business trip (which got me about 5 episodes.) I absolutely love that show, but have to confess (sorry christy) the middle wife gives me a goober. She has that mormon look with a twist of nasty that turns me on...what were we talking about?

We love, love, love Nicky in our house, but mostly for the reasons you detest her. She's damn fun to watch, manipulating the hell out of Viagra Bill, Boss Lady Barb, and Evil Prophet Harry Dean Stanton. Speaking of whom, have you ever seen such a fabulous rendition of "Big Rock Candy Mountain?"

Have a safe one.

Nicky just bothers the Hell out of me too.

Never watched it. When we get a free weekend of HBO, we are frantically watching the sex documentaries and stuff.

:)

I'm a sucker for "Real Sex" as well. You should check out "Discovery : Sex". It's some CBC program that can be found online.

I'd compare it to "Real Sex", but they actually explore the psychological and physical appeal and drive of their topics.

I haven't seen much of Big Love, but I did just write about listening to a couple of "independent" polygamist women at Sunstone talk about how much they love the show. It was funky.

DH just got BIg Love from Netflix and we finished the first episode. I hated the intro, but aside from that it looks like it will be an interesting show.

LOVE IT!! Nikki rocks!! I hope I would give every hell if I had to share sex with other women! She reminds me of the Brady Bunch..."Its always Marsha, Marsha, Marsha" :)

Keep in mind that I said "early impression". Things can change, and I've been wrong before. But seeing all of your perspectives certainly gives me something to think about as I continue to watch the show.

Hi everyone! I'm back, but you knew that already.
