Ringo Starr married a Bond Girl!

True confession time: I've never seen a James Bond movie.
True confession time part deux: I never will see a James Bond movie.

I love movies, I even love most action flicks. For some reason I have never had the desire to see a James Bond movie. Five or six years ago I realized that I should probably just keep that tradition, so that I can continue to shock and amaze people. There were some brief rumors a while back that they may get Ewan McGregor to play the role of James Bond, in which case, would have created a severe temptation for me.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. With the exception of one sister and her family, my entire family was together. To give you an idea of just how major that is, my entire family has been in the same place at the same time, exactly four times since 1984. There are only 5 kids in my family, but we're all extremely different, and thanks to some Jerry Springer-ish stories, not very close. I'm the baby so everyone gets along with me, it's each other that they hate. Over the past few years they've worked out most of their difference and have agreed to disagree for the rest. My nieces and nephews are at an age where they are really fun to be around, and it makes me a little sad that they have to live so far away.

Last night my husband and I watched "Love Actually" while enjoying adult beverages and cuddling on the couch. I love love love that movie, there is a part of each one of the characters that I can identify with. I can relate to each story line on some level, from the little girl who plays the first lobster in her school nativity play, to the crochety old has-been rockstar. Besides, Colin Firth is in it, and he is soooo dreamy... *swoon*!

Looky here, another completely random post. I hope everyone had a fantastic thanksgiving filled with too much food and too much family. Now let's get pissed and watch porn!

I've never seen a James Bond movie and don't plan to either. They have just never interested me. It's kind of weird because I grew up in a James Bond loving family. I am the odd duck in more ways than one! :)

What about a James Bondage movie?

I've seen most of the Bond pictures, and the new "Casino Royale" is a complete departure and a reinvention of the series. The new James Bond is brutal and violent, someting we always knew was there, but that was never shown. Here, the brutality and violence of the character hit you in the face at the very outset, in two brilliantly photographed black-and-white killing scenes. Also, the movie has none of the gizmos and gadgets that were the hallmarks of earlier films; those are tossed overboard in favor of actual character development. They even played with a couple of the catchphrases of the character--he doesn't say "the name is Bond, James Bond" until the very end, and when a bartender asked whether he wanted his martini shaken or stirred, he says "do I look like I give a damn?" Daniel Craig is superb in the role. He's a fine actor to begin with, and his sharp blue eyes, sad face, and great physique bring some physical aspects to the role that I haven't seen since Sean Connery's earlier Bond movies. The new Bond film is worth a look. You can always just lie and tell people you didn't see it.

Regina Filangi- YAY!! I'm not the only one! Soul sister!

Bishop Rick- perhaps, if the chicks are hot enough.

Randy- you almost make it sound tempting, but I'm not there with you. I totally believe that it is everything you say it is, but I can't bring myself to do it. The only real temptation that I would have has is what I stated in the post... if Ewan McGregor was in the role.

Didn't the title "Octopussy" even intrigue you just a little??

I'm a big fan of the Sean Connery movies. He is HOTTT. He is still hot, even as an old man. Siiiigh. Some of the others are dumb. The current ones I've never seen.

I love your use of a line from Love Actually in your last sentence!

SML- I remember when Octopussy came out, I think I was in 3rd grade, or sometime around then. I thought the title was funny, but not intriguing enough to see it.

I love that you recognized the use of a line from Love Actually as my last sentence! I have one other line from Love Actually in this blog post, do you know which one it is?

Sean Connery was the BEST. Randy's excellent description of the new Bond makes me want to run out and see it - right now!

Christy - up until a few years ago, I had never seen E.T. That was hard for some to believe. But NOT seeing ANY James Bond movies? Egads! How can that be?

In no particular order:

-A View to a Kill
-Diamonds are Forever
-Live and Let Die
-Goldfinger
-The Living Daylights
-Moonraker

One of my FAVORITE scenes from any James Bond movie is when Bond enters a room and there are two beautiful women in the hot tub. They look at him and then say:

"My names Bambi." The other one looks at him coyly and says, "And my name is Thumper."

And then they proceed to beat the shit out of Bond. He eventually overcomes (no pun or suggestive inference intended).

Bishop Rick's suggestion is mighty funny :)

Okay - I'm done with this novel. Cheers!

Nope, I'm trying hard but can't find the quote. A couple might fit, but I can't tell for sure..."filled with too much food and too much family" could be it, or "True confession time part deux"...

Sideon- I know, I know. But like I said in my post, I figure it's best to leave it as is so that I can shock and amaze people. It seems like so little is able to make that happen these days! Love this enthusiastic response!

SML- Nope, those lines were my own. It's the title!

I have only seen part of one James Bond movie - In Her Majesty's Secret Service, the only Bond film featuring James Lazenby (?) as Bond. I had to watch the part that shows the place in Switzerland where it was filmed. :-)

I have to say, though, that the newest Bond with Daniel Craig, is tempting me to see it. I'll probably end up falling asleep halfway through it when we watch it on DVD at home.

PS - How's your mom doing now?

Hey Wry, welcome home! I read your post on Cherry about your trip and it sounds so absolutely wonderful! Although I'm smarting over the fact that there are no pictures! :( I did check out T-squared's flickr account and saw some pics from the trip, hopefully he'll put some more up.

My mom is... okay. She's not back to her old self, and I don't think she ever will be. Sometimes it's hard for me to be around her because I don't know what to say or do. Some of her days are better than others. Thank you for asking! :)

Here, Christy, I'll explain every Bond movie to you:

Bond hooks up with random sexy woman, just to show his manliness to the audience, sometime in the show. Then Bond hooks up with another sexy woman, who turns out to be bad and betrays him. Bond wins some major battle, like botching a nuclear bomb dropping attempt by--get this--turning the machine off. Gadgets. Action, more action. Catch phrases. Bond hooks up with some other hot chick, who turns out to help him, but they don't get a chance to have sex until the end of the movie.

The end.

I've seen a few, and I think they're fine as superficial action flicks go. But you're really not missing much. (Though the description of the newest sounds slightly better.)
