Fuck you, asshole

I don't know if the F word is allowed on blogger or not. Time to find out.

This is the part where I say FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE to Utah Congressman Chris Cannon and his recent statements about the Foley Scandal: "Frankly, this is the responsibility of the parents. If you get online you may find people who are creepy. There are creepy people out there who will do and say creepy things. Avoid them. That's what you have to do. And maybe we can say that a little more to the pages." (from http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=545803).

I was a poli-sci major in college. That aint me so much anymore. But once in awhile, I get really ticked off.

Burn in hell, Chris Cannon. And while I'm at it, you too, Hastert. Burn. In. Hell.

Being able to use the word fuck is the number one reason I have a blog.

I generally avoid being political on my site but I admit that I wrote an entire post on Cannon today and decided not to publish it.

Blaming the victim is in his genes. It comes from listening to Conference.

Okay, I now have to comment twice in the same day.

I don't know shit about Utah politics, I barely keep up with US politics these days.

However, some dude (UT attorney general maybe? I wanna say his name was Shertliff or something??) fully tore Tucker Carlson a new hole over the prosecuting-the-fucking-polygamists-like-Jeffs thing, and made me have a big O. He's probably some cowboy right-wing muthafucka most of the time, whose politics would send me round the bend. But...in this case, I had to cheer when he said that the lives of women and children in the polygamist world were worth saving.

Plus, Tucker Carlson is a fucking tool, so I was glad that UT cowboy schooled him so thoroughly.

Off topic much, WC? I just had to get that off my chest...

(Apropos of your Blogger question, now might be a good time for me to ask if one is allowed to use gutter-mouth profanity in your comments? Ahem.)

Pete- so funny that you had a post about Chris Cannon, too. If you still have it, perhaps you could email it to me? christyput at yahoo dot com. I would be interested in reading what you had to say. I completely understand about keeping politics off of your blog. That is normally my nature as well, but I was just really pissed last night and had to blow off the steam.

Wry!!! THANK YOU for being here, I love that! Anyway, You're talking about Mark Shurtleff. He is indeed a cowboy right-wing muthafucka, and I don't agree with all that he says and does, but he IS totally kicking ass on the polygamy thing.

Oh, and gutter mouth profanity in the comments is not only okay, but is encouraged. Fuckin-eh!

Apparently you can say the word Fuck on your blog. More power to you! Sometimes it feels damn good to say it, I must admit.

No kidding! Chris Cannon is creepy himself...

SML- guilty pleasure, indeed. I mean I said the word fuck when I was a TBM, but it was always with a little guilt. It's so much more fun to use it with free abandon now.

Kita Kazoo- Chris Cannon is a major loser, but sadly he keeps winning. I can't wait until he's out of office and no longer representing Utah, but it won't be anytime soon, I'm afraid.

I live in Utah, and I am a liberal Democrat by U.S standards - so I'm super-out-there by Utah standards. I rarely vote for a Republican, though I have been known to. Mark Shurtleff is the only Republican I have voted for in recent years who has been elected, and I am very proud to have helped elect him. He is not a right-wing cowboy muthafucka. He's a moderately conservative, legally astute man who helped our state FINALLY pass an enforceable hate-crimes law and fought in vain against an amendment to the state constitution defining marriage. He is an aggressive pursuer of mysoginist and pedophile polygamists in the state's (tiny minority) fringe religious sects.

I have to post this because, as someone who definitely recognizes Utah as a place that is much too conservative for comfort, I nonetheless hate the blanket branding of Utah as backward and anti-progressive as I do the blanket branding of, say, Massachussetts as gay loony lefty land.

Chris Cannon is an ass. Orrin Hatch is an embarrassment. Mike Leavitt has now twice been appointed to federal positions he is ridiculously unqualified for.

But Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is a world leader in fighting global warming, promoting human rights, opposing the war in Iraq and promoting marriage and other rights for gays and lesbians. In November's election, we are likely to become tied as the state with the most openly gay members of our state Legislature.

This place isn't all bad. And I just ask everyone to try to remember that it is fairly illiberal and bigoted to make blanket assumptions.

(And I don't write this in anger. I don't feel that anyone here was overly stereotyping Utahns or anything. It's just something I've seen happen over and over again, and I like to combat it when I can.)

Point well taken, Anonymous. (care to introduce yourself? Seriously, I would love to know who you are or more about you). I really like what you had to say in your response. I really do love Utah, even if some of the politicians in office piss me off.

I know it's not easy to understand the intentions of the writers, I know that myself and Wry Catcher meant the term "Right Wing Cowboy Motherfucka" as an endearment, as strange as that sounds. We both have a strange sense of humor. I really appreciate Shurtleff and all that he's done. Recently he's done a lot to bring awareness to depression and suicide, which are both majorly important issues for me.

Really though, I loved your comments. Do you have a blog? You have some great things to say, I'd love to know more of your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by! :)
